Maersk has unveiled its new FI2 shipping service providing direct sailings from China to India.
Operating on a weekly frequency and deployed with six vessels, the FI2 service will kick off its maiden westbound voyage from Shanghai on 4 June 2026.
The port rotation is listed as: Shanghai – Ningbo – Nansha – Tanjung Pelepas – Nhava Sheva – Pipavav – Port Qasim.
Maersk said the service will be Tailored to meet the rising trade volumes between China and India, this direct route cuts transit time notably. It is particularly well-suited for high-value and time-sensitive cargo, including automotive components and new energy materials.dly intended for Sea Lead Shipping Pte Ltd and its Indian subsidiary, as part of a broader action targeting more than $15.3 million tied to a sanctions-evasion network linked to Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the son of a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader.
From Pipavav, cargo can be distributed across India’s National Capital Region covering Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and surrounding industrial hubs via Maersk’s integrated inland logistics network.
Together with Maersk’s existing FI3 service, FI2 will form a robust maritime network connecting the Far East and India. Maersk said the dual-service setup delivers enhanced weekly frequency, greater routing flexibility and improved supply chain resilience, enabling customers to optimise logistics arrangements and mitigate potential supply chain disruptions.
